Attorney Sarah Toney recently attended the Illinois State Bar Association's Annual Meeting, held in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. At the weekend-long meeting, she spoke at events, participated in section council meetings and led and attended workshops and meetings.
On Thursday, June 18, Ms. Toney attended the Law Office Management and Economics section meeting, where she was installed as the Vice-Chair of the standing committee. The committee meets to develop methods that will help lawyers enhance their practices so they run productively with sound business practices.
Next, on Friday, June 19, attorney Toney led the Continuing Legal Education Breakfast Symposium called "It Could Happen To You: How To Identify and Prevent Employee Theft". This was a program to help other lawyers in with their practices. Ms. Toney was a creator of the symposium and worked tirelessly to create a program that would help lawyers improve their businesses. Later that day she attended the Standing Committee on Marketing and Communications meeting, of which she is a member. She also attended the Traffic Laws & Courts Section Council meeting. Ms. Toney is a former Chair of the Section and is now starting her 7th year as editor of the Section's newsletter, which provides important legal information to lawyers who practice DUI and other traffic related law. She ended the night by attending the Illinois Bar Foundation Supreme Court dinner.
Lastly, Ms. Toney ended the Annual Meeting on Saturday, June 20 by attending the meeting of the ISBA Assembly. As an elected member to the Assembly, Ms. Toney attended the meeting. At the meeting, lawyers vote on important changes to Illinois law and on the running of the bar association, which serves all Illinois lawyers.
Attorney Sarah Toney believes as a lawyer she must give back to the legal community with as much effort and dedication as she gives to her clients. Through this involvement she is constantly learning and enhancing her abilities as a skilled and successful attorney.
