Colleen Bisher-Fry is a Senior Associate with Toney Law Firm. Colleen is a seasoned litigator and has established a stellar reputation as a respectful, honest, and zealous advocate for her clients. From clients who are charged with Class X felonies to a Class A misdemeanors, Colleen communicates with each of her clients with the patience and respect they deserve. Colleen recognizes and appreciates that facing a criminal charge can be a frightening and overwhelming experience, and her extensive courtroom experience is a comfort to her clients. Her dynamic litigation skills during motions, bench trials, and jury trials have earned her the respect of colleagues, judges, and clients across Cook County.
Before joining the firm, Colleen served as an Assistant Public Defender for the Law Office of the Cook County Public Defender. As an Assistant Public Defender, she represented clients accused of felony and misdemeanor offenses in Cook County. Colleen is very well recognized in criminal courthouses across Cook County, and has enjoyed working at the Daley Center, the Domestic Violence Courthouse at 555 W. Harrison, Branch 44 at Harrison and Kedzie, the Maywood Courthouse, and 26th and California. She has represented thousands of clients charged with a variety of criminal offenses, including aggravated DUIs; sex, gun, and drug cases; burglaries; aggravated kidnapping; theft; domestic battery; and many other types of violent and non-violent criminal charges.
Prior to being employed with the Law Office of the Cook County Public Defender, Colleen was an Assistant Attorney General with the Office of the Illinois Attorney General. Colleen was assigned to the Consumer Fraud Bureau, where she prosecuted businesses defrauding Illinois residents in the areas of Home Repair Fraud, Auto Fraud, and For-Profit College Fraud. Being a civil prosecutor prior to being a criminal defense attorney has allowed Colleen to garner experience in multiple areas of the law and recognize strengths and weaknesses from every angle of a case.
Outside of her work with The Toney Law Firm, Colleen volunteers within the Chicago legal community. As a member of the Chicago Bar Association, Colleen is a judicial evaluator with the Judicial Evaluation Committee. This committee judges and rates current sitting judges, as well as prospective judges, specifically so Illinois voters are informed as to who is most qualified for this prestigious office. Colleen is also a member of the Lesbian and Gay Bar Association of Chicago (LAGBAC) and has volunteered to be a mentor in their mentor/mentee program. Colleen graduated from Chicago-Kent College of Law in 2010.
